This page describes what this site actually does, not what a template says a site should do.

No account, nothing to sign up for

Coldwast has no accounts, no registration and no newsletter. You can read every guide without giving anything, and there is no user database to leak.

Audience measurement, and how to turn it off

The site loads Google Analytics (property G-4SQJ15V82L) with IP anonymisation enabled. Be aware of how the switch works here: analytics is loaded unless you have declined it — it is opt-out, not opt-in. Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage under the key cw-consent; declining sets it to no and the analytics script is then never fetched on subsequent visits.

Clearing your browser storage resets that choice, which means measurement resumes until you decline again. We would rather say so plainly than let you discover it.

Affiliate links

Some guides contain affiliate links to hosting, tools or learning resources. If you follow one and subscribe, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Following such a link takes you to the partner's site, which applies its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies. These links are disclosed where they appear and never change which tool a guide recommends.

When you click one, the site records the event in its own analytics (which link, which page) — not who you are.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by our hosting provider, which keeps technical logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page — for security and troubleshooting. That is standard for any web server. We do not use those logs to build profiles of readers.

Your rights, and what we hold

We hold no personal data about you: no account, no email address unless you write to us, no profile. If you have written to us, ask and your message will be deleted. For anything concerning this page, use the contact page.
